Students for an Equitable Education

ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 10
Feminine hygiene products: public school restrooms.
In summary, AB-10 mandates that you, a Title I student, have access to free feminine hygiene products. These products should be available in half that bathrooms on campus. AB-10 was passed in 2017 by the California State Legislature and should have been implemented statewide.

PERIODT POWER AT A GLANCE
Periodt Power is a California youth coalition. We believe that education should be equitable and accessible for all students, regardless of gender. Providing free tampons and pads in restrooms is an important step toward recognizing that menstruation products are a human right, not a luxury. California's weak followthrough on AB-10 is an outward representation of inward state bias. These products are a basic necessity and should be treated as such.
What is a Title I school?
Title I schools are schools that meet a 40% poverty threshold. This means that 40% of the student body is in need of some kind of financial assistance.
Do I go to a Title I school?
Great question! To find out, follow the link below and click "2019–20 ESSA Assistance Status Spreadsheet." From there a spreadsheet will appear. Enter your school's name in the search bar. Along the same horizontal column, you will find "yes" or "no" under "TitleI1819" status. If "yes" is listed in your school's column then you are a member of a Title I school.
